SE: Option Price Calculator

Prepare to be fleeced! On the face of it this app looked like it could do what we needed it to do. All I wanted was to calculate square meterage used for a printing application. The app is incredibly difficult to firstly understand, and secondly use but hey don't worry they provide templates for you to use - AT A COST of up to $350 - nice, get the app then pay again to use a template service. Anyway, I got the calculator sort of working having persevered but clicking add to cart doesn't appear to do anything meaningful, I guess this is a theme issue, no problems they will sort this for a further $250. So in short, subscribe then get fleeced for $600 to get something decent working - not for me you penny pinching bunch of whotsits.

Do Not Use !!! ... They are Only Concerned With Money , You Will Be Disappointed ... as the other reviewer stated .. on the outside it gives the impression that it will do what you need it to ....it has deceptive pricing .. you might think Basic will Work for you but once your in the app they want you to pay the $60 or $100 a month option in order for anything to work ... i asked for a refund and was simply told .. Oh Upgrade to the pro or elite plan to get it to work .... STAY AWAY!

Have been looking for an app to use on our site. This has been the easiest option so far and they customer service / support team are great. Any issues we have experienced they were quick in responding or solving it for us.

My interaction with this app has been excellent!! It fulfills its intended functions precisely as I had hoped. The representatives have proven to be not only proactive and supportive but also responsive to feedback. They are open to suggestions and have demonstrated a rapid ability to implement updates.

Having seen this app working on another store and seeing what they were able to do with it, I am super excited to get this app up and running on our print site. Shopify is not built to handle a printing company's complex products and variations, but this app completely takes that problem away.

After doing a lot of research, I can confidently say this is the best app I’ve found for complex pricing calculations. It’s extremely flexible and works perfectly for products with many different pricing variables. The support team is also amazing — super helpful, responsive, and patient. They helped me set everything up, explained how it all works, and assisted me whenever I ran into an issue.

Fantastic advice and support from minute one. Answered all of our questions and made sure we had the right information for our project. Would give (6) stars if I could!!

WOW-! You're asking for $350 on top of the $59/mo for a template that you advertise as part of the functionality that already comes with the Elite plan. Really???? A brilliant app isn't brilliant when you try to scam your users.

Excellent app and service. It is a very versatile app and their team is great to work with. All of our questions were answered quickly. We even had them develop a custom calculator for us and they delivered it very quickly and it works great. I highly recommend this app and wish we would have found it sooner.

Great app and solid support. We ran into a rare edge case with our store setup, and the support team took the time to properly investigate and improve their handling of it. Issue is now resolved and the app works as expected. Appreciate the follow-up and fix.

Excellent app for selling fabric by the meter, and truly outstanding support. Matthew replied fast and was incredibly helpful setting up per-product weight via metafields and a single shared calculator for our whole catalog. Highly recommended for any measurement-based pricing.

Option Calculator is a powerful app that handles complex pricing calculations seamlessly, exactly what our store needed. While it can be a bit complicated to set up, that complexity is what makes it so versatile. Matt was incredibly helpful in guiding me through the tricky parts, ensuring everything worked perfectly. Really great app. Had a minor issue and I gave the app developers access to the site as a collaborator. We emailed back and forth a few times and they had me fixed within 40 minutes...on a SUNDAY! Setup is a little complicated because you need to figure out what elements to hide on the page so all the parts of this app show and all the parts of the Shopify price options do not. But after a couple of hours, I had it installed and working. There are lots of little unusual options to turn off or on that most people wont' need but I needed a couple of them. If they weren't available, the app wouldn't have worked for me. The developers did a really good job of anticipating how different shops would use this. This app also works with pop-up and slide-out-drawer shopping cart pages. I tried another popular app and it did not. This is a big deal. If your customers are being redirected to the shopping cart page every time they add something to the shopping cart, you are losing sales. Keeping them on the shopping pages sells more stuff. I have been in online retail for 15 years and currently have 4 shops on different platforms. This is one of the best thought out and implemented apps I've used. Worth every penny.

Starting off this app was a little rocky - and frustrating but not because of the calculator. As a sticker shop we needed something that was robust and had all the options necessary to facilitate the options that we offer from our business. This calculator is extremely advanced and allows for all the options that you could dream of, but it does take some working through to make sure they all work together. Thankfully their customer support and service has been great at helping us navigate through some of the problems that we have encountered - even when it wasn't something to do with their product. Definitely grateful for their help and product.

There is no other app that can do what OPC can. It is a little challenging to get everything figured out, but the developers can answer any questions and get you where you need to be. If you are looking for an app that caters to your unique, custom store - you found it.

It’s a great app with huge potential, and I’m genuinely disappointed that we couldn’t use it in the end. If you’re looking for a product calculator, you’ll quickly realize this app is one of a kind on the Shopify App Store. Unfortunately, the developers seem to have overlooked that Shopify is designed for everyday people - many of whom don’t have a technical background but want to build their own websites. When you first install the app, you’re invited to book a free 15-minute setup call, which I did immediately. I was really eager to learn more, but to my surprise, no one showed up. I had to send two follow-up messages before someone finally joined the meeting after I’d already been waiting for 15 minutes. You’ll also run into a rather limited help section. Despite having studied at a math-focused high school and holding both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in finance, it still took me two days to fully understand how the pricing tables and formulas work. They’re actually not that complicated - but a clear, descriptive help section would have made a huge difference. Then come the real issues, which for us outweighed the benefits of keeping the app. For example, our product page would display one price, the “Add to Cart” button would show another, and the checkout would show yet another amount. The developers did offer workarounds, but most involved hiding values or options and adding information text instead - which didn’t feel like a proper solution. They also charge $350+ for their pre-made calculator templates, which I understand required time to build, and quoted us $800 just to make our checkout work with their app. And don’t be misled by the price shown on the app listing - to really use the app properly, you’ll need the Ultra plan, which is $120 per month. I was actually ready to pay all of that if the support had been responsive and reliable. Unfortunately, support replies typically took 24–36 hours. The app does offer great flexibility and visual design customization, but the technical side is really only manageable if you have your own developer. You’ll likely need to hire a developer for almost everything. I think the logic and potential behind the app are excellent - whoever is building it clearly knows what they’re doing - but they seem to forget that their customers are regular business owners selling t-shirts, stickers, body lotions, and other everyday products. I truly hope they invest more in their support and make the app more accessible - both for people who don’t have a technical background and in terms of budget.
