California battery recycling fee compliance for checkout

Introduction

Automatically calculate and display California battery recycling fees at checkout.

Details

California law requires retailers to collect a battery recycling fee on battery-containing products shipped to California addresses. CA Battery Fee handles this automatically. Define which products contain batteries using a Shopify collection, and the app calculates the correct fee (1.5% of price, capped at $15) during checkout. Customers see a clear fee message, and the fee appears as a line item on orders for your accounting records. Setup takes minutes. Compliance handled.
